Results Update: 28-04-2008

Reliance Energy today reported 41.2% increase in consolidated net
profit for the full year ended March 31, 2008, at Rs 1,178.21 crore
when compared with Rs 834.48 crore posted in the fiscal year ended
March 31, 2007.

According to a release issued by Reliance Energy to the BSE today,
FY08 total income was up 25.5% at Rs 9,760.01 crore from Rs 7,774.53
crore in FY07.

 
Sterlite Industries India, the flagship company of Vedanta
Group on Saturday announced a consolidated net profit of Rs 1,318.41
crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31 against Rs 1,143.22 crore
a year ago.

Total income of the company rose to Rs 7,357.66 crore in the quarter
from Rs 6,500.08 crore in the same period last year.

On July 2006, the firm sold its power transmission line division and
the last year's figures have been regrouped. Hence, the figures of the
quarter are not comparable, the company said in a filing to the Bombay
Stock Exchange.

For the financial year ended March 31, the company announced a net
profit of Rs 4,399.37 crore against Rs 4,386.23 crore in the year-ago
period.

Sterlite Industries India announced a stand-alone net profit of Rs
306.45 crore for the quarter ended March 31 compared with Rs 209.18
crore in the corresponding period last year. Total stand-alone income
rose to Rs 3,617.35 crore for the quarter from Rs 3,073.1 crore in the
year-ago period.

For the fiscal, the company earned a net profit of Rs 951.63 crore
against Rs 784.03 crore a year ago. Total income for the year rose to
Rs 13,274.37 crore from Rs 12,027.26 crore.

The board of directors has declared a 200 per cent dividend at Rs 4 on
shares of Rs 2 each for the fiscal.

Shares of Sterlite Industries closed at Rs 835.90, up 3.69 per cent,
yesterday on the BSE.
 
Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) has posted a 35.73 per cent rise in
net profit at Rs 1,850 crore for the financial year ended March 31,
2008, as compared with Rs 1,363 crore in the previous year.


Despite a drop in production, the plant's turnover grew 5.63 per cent
to Rs 10,425 crore in 2007-08, as against Rs 9,869 crore in 2006-07,
on the back of increased output of value-added steel (special steel),
said Chairman and MD P K Bishnoi.

During the year, the firm produced 1.9 million tonnes (mt)of special
steel, a rise of 74 per cent over the last year, and sold 1.82 mt as
against 1.11 mt in the previous year. Exports also grew to Rs 556
crore. Bishnoi said that the cost of the firm's proposed expansion
plan had increased by about Rs 2,000 crore.

"Post expansion, about 85 per cent of the total production of 6.3 mt
would be special steels," he said.

Commercial production is likely to commence from February 2010. VSP is
investing Rs 500 crore in International Coal Ventures, a special
purpose vehicle being set up jointly by VSP, SAIL, NTPC, National
Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) and Coal India Limited.
 
Triveni Engineering & Industries Ltd has announced the following
Unaudited results for the quarter ended March 31, 2008:
The Company has posted a net profit of Rs 34.28 crore for the quarter
ended March 31, 2008 as compared to Rs 5.40 crore for the quarter
ended March 31, 2007. Total Income has increased from Rs 365.49 crore
for the quarter ended March 31, 2007 to Rs 382.83 crore for the
quarter ended March 31, 2008.
 
Indiabulls Securities has disclosed a phenomenal jump in net profits
for the quarter ended in March 2008. During the quarter, the company
experienced a 40.77% rise in profits to Rs 534.4 million from Rs
379.60 million in the quarter ended March 2007.

Income from Operation for the quarter rose 47.39% to Rs 1,602.8
million compared with Rs 1,087.40 million in the corresponding
quarter, a year ago.

Total income rose 55.69% to Rs 1,727 million for the quarter ended
March 2008 from Rs 1,109.2 million for the same period last year.

The basic and diluted EPS after extraordinary item stood at Rs 2.10
for the quarter.

Yearly Result

The company posted a net profit of Rs 2517.7 million for the year
ended Mar. 31, 2008 as compared with Rs 1373.9 million for the year
ended Mar. 31, 2007, an increase of 83.25%.

For the financial year ended March 2008, the company`s net sales
jumped 46.80% to Rs 6,207.2 million compared with Rs 4,228.3 million
for the year ended March 2007.

Total income for the year rose 44.81% to Rs 6,467.8 million compared
with Rs 4,466.1 million last year.

The basic and diluted EPS after extraordinary item stood at Rs 9.64
for the year.

Announcement:

The board of directors of Indiabulls Securities, at its meeting held
on Apr. 28, 2008, has recommended a dividend of 375% or Rs 7.50 a
equity share on the face value of Rs 2 per equity share for the
financial year ended Mar. 31, 2008.
 
Nucleus Software Exports recommended a final dividend of 30% that is
Rs 3 a share of par value Rs 10.

The payment is subject to the approval of the shareholders at the
ensuing annual general meeting (AGM) of the company.

and financial services industry, with its flagship product -FinnOne
 
 
Industrial Development Bank of India Ltd (IDBI) has informed the BSE that the board at its meeting held on April 26 has recommended
dividend of 20% for the year 2007-08.
 
Glenmark Pharmaceutical announced a phenomenal rise in standalone net
profit for the quarter ended March 2008. During the quarter, the
profit of the company rose 2.08 times to Rs 1,301.41 million from Rs
625.63 million in the same quarter previous year. The company posted
earnings of Rs 5.24 a share during the quarter, registering 0.38%
growth over previous year period.

Net sales for the quarter jumped 44.44% to Rs 3,968.98 million, while
total income for the quarter jumped 48.69% to Rs 4,119.06 million,
when compared with the prior year period.

During the quarter the company announced a fall in operating margin by
393.20 basis points to 29.09% on higher production cost. On the other
hand, there has been increase of 35.09% in interest charge to Rs 91.44
million and rise of 37.96% in depreciation charge to Rs 81.70 million
over previous year period
 
CESC announced a substantial rise in standalone net profit for the
quarter ended March 2008. During the quarter, the profit of the
company jumped 40.98% to Rs 860 million from Rs 610 million in the
same quarter last year. The company reported earnings of Rs 6.88 a
share during the quarter, registering 6.01% decline over prior year
period.

Net sales for the quarter rose 16.64% to Rs 6,380 million, while total
income for the quarter rose 18.06% to Rs 6,800 million, when compared
with the prior year period.

During the quarter the company disclosed a fall in operating margin by
164.02 basis points to 19.75% on higher input cost. On the other hand,
there has been decrease of 13.89% in interest charge to Rs 310 million
and fall of 2.44% in depreciation charge to Rs 400 million over
previous year period.
