The heads of states of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting
Countries (OPEC) are meeting on June 22 of in Jeddah to discuss record-
high crude prices.
OPEC chief Abdullah al-Badri said, the head-of-state level meeting
will discuss the reasons for the high energy prices.
OPEC maintains that the oil market is well supplied and that current
prices do not reflect market fundamentals of supply and demand.
Saudi Arabia has come under huge US pressure to boost output to help
end volatility in world markets. Analysts have predicted that oil
prices could power past USD 200 per barrel in 18 months.
